Better Call Saul Season 6 Netflix Release Date Reportedly Revealed

As is often the case with the Breaking Bad world, there's room for more storytelling if the cast and creatives are inclined.

Better Call Saul‘s season 6 Netflix release date has been reportedly revealed, and it’s soon. The final episodes of the Breaking Bad spinoff aired in August, going in very unexpected directions and garnering praise from both viewers and critics. Routinely cited as one of 2022’s best shows, Better Call Saul season 6 increased calls for the series to be recognized at the Emmy Awards, particularly as the series has never won at the ceremony despite its widespread acclaim and the fact that it has received numerous nominations.

Now, for those looking to rewatch Better Call Saul season 6 or delve into it for the first time, a new opportunity will soon be available. According to What’s On Netflix, April 18 is when U.S. and Canada subscribers will be able to stream Better Call Saul season 6 on Netflix. That will make it less than a full year since the show debuted on AMC in July 2022.

How Netflix Helped The Popularity Of The Breaking Bad Universe

Breaking Bad‘s viewership grew greatly as subscribers binged the drama on Netflix. This helped to popularize what became known as the “Netflix effect,” in which shows of varying name recognition get a bump in ratings due to its demand on a widely-available streaming service. But that availability didn’t just help in terms of viewership. It also ensured that Breaking Bad wouldn’t be canceled. This much was confirmed by series creator Vince Gilligan. At the Emmys in 2013, following the show’s conclusion, Gilligan thanked Netflix and said that the drama’s streaming popularity helped keep the series on the air.

Netflix also helped to continue the story of Breaking Bad, as it released a follow-up film focused on the character of Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), which wrapped up some aspects of the original series. The film, titled El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, debuted in October 2019. After the first week of the film’s premiere, Netflix said that more than 25 million households had seen it. El Camino also drew strong praise, with reviews citing the project as the best acting work of Paul’s career.

Better Call Saul season 6 gives a definitive ending to some key characters. However, as is often the case with the Breaking Bad world, there’s room for more storytelling if the cast and creatives are inclined. While it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon, the long-term streaming success of the spinoff could determine whether other prequels and follow-ups are announced down the line.
